SENT ON BEHALF OF LEON GRUNDMANN
Dear GNSO Councillors,
On 12 June 2024 the GNSO Council passed a
resolution
requesting ICANN org to deliver a Policy Status Report covering two existing policies, as follows
1.
The GNSO Council requests a Policy Status Report (PSR) for the Expedited
[Expired] Domain Deletion
Policy (EDDP) and Expedited
[Expired] Registration Recovery Policy (ERRP).
2.
The GNSO Council notes immediate work is not needed on this PSR and would request either (i) delivery of the PSR or (ii) confirmation that work on the PSR has begun
and an updated estimate on when the PSR should be delivered, in one (1) year from the passage of this motion.
3.
The GNSO Council leadership directs GNSO Policy Support Staff to notify ICANN org Global Domains & Services of the request for a PSR on the EDDP and ERRP.
On 15 May 2025, ICANN org confirmed to the GNSO Council that the work had started on the PSR, and that it had been published for
Public Comment
from 15 May 2025 - 30 June 2025. The review of the policies is now complete and the finalized PSR includes the Public Comments received. The PSR is aimed at assisting the GNSO Council and to aid it in determining whether the expiration policies require additional
policy work. The findings of the PSR, as well as Public Comment input received, are scheduled to be presented by ICANN org and discussed with the GNSO Council at the
GNSO Working Session (1 of 2) at ICANN84 on Sunday,
26 October 2025.
To this end, we would like to share two items with you in advance of this session:
We look forward to seeing you, either in person or virtually, in Dublin.
Best regards,
Leon Grundmann
