NEW: ICANN 2021 Nominating Committee Announces Leadership Selections

The ICANN 2021 Nominating Committee is pleased to announce the selections for nine leadership positions.

NEW: Universal Acceptance Course on ICANN Learn

The Universal Acceptance (UA) of all valid domain names and email addresses is an important priority for ICANN organization (org) and a strategic goal outlined in the ICANN Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years 2021-2025. One of the central aspects of this work is raising general awareness of UA and its challenges, while also providing remedies to relevant stakeholders. As part of these efforts, ICANN is now offering an Introduction to UA course on the ICANN Learn platform.

NEW: Recent Improvements to ICANN's IDN Table Review Process

Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) allow for users around the world to use domain names in their native languages. Promoting broad and secure use of IDNs has been a focus for the community and ICANN organization (org). In June 2021, ICANN org completed several significant improvements related to IDN tables. An IDN table lists all characters that a top-level domain (TLD) registry operator (RO) supports for domain name registration, including script specific variant definitions and rules. The updates incorporate the significant amount of work done by the community over the past few years on the technical design considerations and the linguistic details of IDN tables.

NEXT WEEK: Expressions of Interest: Chair of Registration Data Accuracy Scoping Team

The Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) Council is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) to chair the Registration Data Accuracy Scoping Team. The GNSO Council approved the formation of the team and provided instructions [r20.rs6.net] during its meeting on 22 July 2021. The deadline to submit an EOI is 23:59 UTC on Wednesday, 25 August 2021.
