Hi Rafik, all,My understanding of point 2 assumes that the ccNSO has interpreted the CWG's recommendations consistently with the way they are expressed by the CWG. If so, then the intention here is that the community come together (GAC, GNSO, ccNSO, ALAC) on a single effort, rather than the separate efforts (including the CWG itself and the GAC WG) operating independently, in silos. The GNSO PDP has made great strides here to provide this all-inclusive effort with the creation of a new work track 5, and I personally agree with the ccNSO that it is not helpful to have the GAC WG running in parallel to/overlappingwith the PDP.If that's as clear as mud, let me know and I'll try again!Best wishes,HeatherOn Tue, Aug 1, 2017 at 9:20 AM, Rafik Dammak <rafik.dammak@gmail.com> wrote:Hi ,Thanks James for sharing this. regarding the point #2 , did the CCWG compile some of those policies already for their work? maybe Heather can respond to that.Best,Rafik

James,
The ccNSO Council had the future of the CCWG on Country and Territory
Names on the agenda for its meeting of 20 July 2017.
The position adopted by the ccNSO Council is as follows:
1. Close this CWG in accordance with and as foreseen in the charter.
2. Recommend that the ICANN community consolidate all policy efforts
relating to geographic names (as that term has traditionally very
broadly been defined in the ICANN environment to this point) to enable
in-depth analyses and discussions on all aspects related to all
geographic-related names. This is the only way, in our view, to
determine whether a harmonized framework is truly achievable.
3. Recommend that future policy development work must facilitate an
all-inclusive dialogue to ensure that all members of the community have
the opportunity to participate. Again, we believe that this is the only
way to determine whether a harmonized framework is truly achievable.
Best,
Ben
