NEW: ICANN79 Community Forum Location Announced

Today, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced that San Juan, Puerto Rico has been selected as the location for the first ICANN Public Meeting of 2024. The ICANN79 Community Forum will be held from 2–7 March 2024 at the Puerto Rico Convention Center.

NEW: 2022 April New gTLD ICANN Contractual Compliance Audit

ICANN Contractual Compliance has completed its audit of selected generic top-level domain (gTLD) registry operators ("registries") with the terms of the Registry Agreement and ICANN temporary and consensus policies. The report [r20.rs6.net] summarizes the methodology and the results of the audit of 28 TLDs that have not previously been audited under the New gTLD Registry Agreement Audit Plan.

NEW: ICANN Org Publishes WHOIS Disclosure System Design Paper

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers organization (ICANN org) published the design paper for the WHOIS Disclosure System [r20.rs6.net], a proposed system for providing access to nonpublic registration data related to generic top-level domains (gTLDs).

NEW: The ICANN Academy Leadership Program is back!

From 6 October – 10 November 2022, ICANN will be issuing a call for nominations for the 2023 Leadership Program. The program is scheduled for 9–10 March in Cancún, Mexico, just prior to the ICANN76 Public Meeting.

The Leadership Program helps current and incoming leaders better understand the complexities of ICANN, while also helping to develop the facilitation skills of participants. Understanding ICANN as an organization, the topics discussed within ICANN, and the interaction within other stakeholder groups can be challenging for incoming leaders, but sometimes also for experienced leaders. ICANN and the community are making considerable efforts to help incoming leaders have a good start to their terms and to provide current leaders the opportunity to strengthen their leadership and facilitation skills.

Opportunities for Leadership Program participants include the following:

• Meet leaders from the other SOs/ACs and get an insight of the functionality and issues in other groups

• Discuss current ICANN topics in an in-depth manner

• Deepen the understanding of key ICANN processes

• Develop facilitation and leadership skills, focused personal effectiveness to run meetings and foster processes

Interested individuals need to be endorsed by their Supporting Organization, Advisory Committee, or stakeholder group.

The Leadership Program does not provide financial support for travel to Cancún but does cover accommodations and offer a stipend for the days a participant is involved in the program.

REMINDER: Calling for NextGen@ICANN Applications for ICANN76

ICANN is calling for applications for the NextGen@ICANN [r20.rs6.net] [r20.rs6.net]program.

ICANN wants to hear from university students living and studying in the Latin America and Caribbean region who are interested in the future of the Internet and in participating in the ICANN76 Community Forum. ICANN76 is scheduled to be held in Cancún, Mexico from 11–16 March 2023. If ICANN76 is held virtually, the NextGen@ICANN program will also be held virtually. Apply [r20.rs6.net] by 24 October 2022. Successful candidates will be announced on 29 November 2022.
