Hi all,

This is a reminder email about the 21 June 2019 letter to Council from Goran on the WHOIS Accuracy Reporting System (ARS) and WHOIS accuracy more broadly.

We have an action item to respond to this letter. In addition to acknowledging receipt, I recommend we communicate back to ICANN Org that the GNSO Council has accepted action on this topic and we look forward to engaging with ICANN Org, the EPDP Phase 1 IRT, and the EPDP Phase 2 team (if necessary) to address the issue. As a reminder, the WHOIS ARS was one of the items identified in the EPDP Phase 1 Rec #27 for further consideration by Council and ICANN. It was also teed up for further consideration during the Cross-Community session on “Impacts on ICANN Policies and Procedures” in Marrakech.

In my view, this is currently an action for Council, and not yet for the EPDP Phase 2 Team, until such time we decide we need to provide further guidance to, or seek clarification from, the EPDP Phase 2 Team. I propose to draft a response to Goran along these lines. We can discuss further during our Council meeting, so please review the attached as a refresher for that conversation.
