FW: [At-Large] RrSG Statement on RAA Talks
All, I saw ICANN's memo on the RAA negotiations, but did not see them post the Registrars' memo which I believe is unfortunate. There are always two sides to every story and unfortunately I did not see them both represented. I would like to see if we can devote some time during the Council meeting to discuss the last minute changes to the registries and registrars agreements. I agree with the Registrars that with these last minute changes proposed, there is a challenge presented to the PDP process and frankly the GNSO's ongoing role that should be addressed. I would welcome this discussion. I'm disturbed by what I hear about the latest draft, especially if ICANN presents it as a "proposed agreement" when it appears to lack much agreement. --Wendy

No, it obviously is not agreed to by the registrars. Nor is it particularly helpful to portray a top-down capability to unilaterally amend the agreement as a "compromise" to the unilateral termination clause. Replacing one bad idea with a different bad idea is no compromise. ICANN further has not indicated why the registrars' statement regarding the current status of the matter was not posted. It's here for your reference: http://icannregistrars.org/calendar/announcements.php On Mar 8, 2013, at 8:45 AM, Wendy Seltzer wrote:
