collaborative tools
hi, Annette just mentioned the help that ALAC got from ICANNWIKI is setting up collaborative online tools. I attended some of the sessions where they helped set this up and was impressed with ICANNWIKI's level of support and the level of patience they showed in customizing and explanations. Perhaps we can consider talking to them about getting advice and assistance in setting up collaborative work environment to use in one of our future pdp processes, working group projects or some other project. a.
Hi All There is a project in the pipeline to do exactly that -- I'll be kicking that off in the new year. All ideas would be gratefully received. I personally think it is probably a good idea and that it should be helpful. Edmon ----- Original Message ----- From: "Avri Doria" <avri@acm.org> To: "Council GNSO" <council@gnso.icann.org> Sent: Thursday, December 07, 2006 8:47 AM Subject: [council] collaborative tools

Earlier this year we actually went so far as to set up some a virtual workspace for council, but I wasn't able to put the ball across the line due to work constraints. Denise agreed to pick up the ball and run with it earlier this year, but I haven't followed up with her on it at all.... Edmon Chung wrote:

I thought that we had discussed this to death and agreed that tools that come with professional support are needed to support ICANN's work -- whether it is the Board, the GNSO, or any other 'organ'. The level of work demand that everyone experiences really deserves professional support tools, and professional resources. I am reviewing the StratPlan and the Operational Plan as part of my responsibilities/commitment to do, and I see that there are commitments in both. Perhaps what is needed is just the will and time for the President and CEO to assign staff to make 'this' happen. -----Original Message----- From: owner-council@gnso.icann.org [mailto:owner-council@gnso.icann.org] On Behalf Of Ross Rader Sent: Friday, December 08, 2006 8:40 AM To: Edmon Chung Cc: Council GNSO Subject: Re: [council] collaborative tools Earlier this year we actually went so far as to set up some a virtual workspace for council, but I wasn't able to put the ball across the line due to work constraints. I remember talking it to death, but as far as I remember, there is no agreement on what constitutes "professional support tools" and "professional resources". We have traded many ideas and philosophies on the subject, but I don't know I would go so far as saying that we've given any one any direct instructions or requirements that are actionable in any real sense. -r
Hi Marilyn I don't think I was clear -- the two projects which I am kicking off in the new year have approved project charters and are working their way through the Project Office. This means that resources have been identified to do them -- and that's what I'll be doing in consultation with our key clients. Kind regards. I passed the ball to a staff person who did some initial research. We determined that this needed to be a well researched and planned project (which also needs to involve the GNSO at the appropriate points). A proposed project charter/plan will be shared with you.
