Planning for Brussels
Councillors, Glen and I are already working on the GNSO agenda for Brussels and one of the items we need to sort out pretty quickly is whether the Council wants to have an informal dinner on the first Saturday evening like we did first in Seoul, then in Nairobi. Also, do people want to have the Sunday morning breakfast again as well? We also need to know if both houses wish to have separate meetings on the Saturday morning (reminder: due to the low numbers from the CP house in Nairobi, only the NCP house had a meeting)? The sooner we can get an idea of what people want, the easiest it will be for us to plan accordingly. Thanks, Stéphane
Definitely yes on the dinner Saturday. Ambivalent on the other two items. Thanks. Same - so long as there is a security detail as I understand there may be security issues in Brussels. Yes

I haven't seen the value added so far and detest breakfast meetings, particularly when they're not in the hotel
We also need to know if both houses wish to have separate meetings on the Saturday morning (reminder: due to the low numbers from the CP house in Nairobi, only the NCP house had a meeting)?
I would favor this providing there is advanced planning of the agenda and agreement on how the meeting will be run. Cheers, Bill
Regarding Bill's request for advanced planning of the NCP House meeting, that is not something than Glen and Stephane have much influence over so I suggest that the NCSG and CSG Councilors work with your respective SG leadership teams and Constituency leadership teams as applicable to start that planning right away if it has not already begun. It would be very helpful for planning purposes if that planning was far enough along by the end of April to be able to at least firm up the schedule. Chuck

Same here - yes to Sat dinner and okay for Sunday breakfast if a number of others (as appears to be the case) wish it. Um, it doesn't have to be a "gripe session", does it? On the NCP house meeting, I concur with Bill's previous note that the leaders/councillors from the 2 SGs first need to consult as to agenda and, thus, need. For now, having it on the schedule as a placeholder is fine. Thanks! Councillors, It seems that most are in favour of both the Sat dinner and the Sun breakfast. Would anyone who does not concur please let either Glen or myself know? Absent any objections, we will go ahead and schedule those two events. As for the house meetings (on Sat), the NCP house seems to want its meeting so we are including that in the agenda. The CP house doesn't want a meeting so that will not be on the agenda. Thanks, Stéphane
