Hello Sophia, - review external influences - e.g alternative roots (both ASCII and IDN based), search engines, tld (cctld and gtld) registry competition, growth in Internet users that are non-English speaking and users that use different character sets. We will not be discussing IDNs in detail as a separate topic, but merely identifying that it is an influence on the new gTLD discussion. Note IDNs in the root would be a type of new gTLD. Given that there are presently no IDNs in the root has led some groups establishing alternative roots to provide that function (not necessary compliant with the IETF RFCs for IDNs). Regards, Bruce
