Dear Colleagues, Probably many of us are interested in having a better understanding of how the new gtld implementation plans are evolving at the board and staff levels. In our recent conference call it was mentioned that the staff implementation team will meet with the board in New Delhi to discuss the implementation plans in more detail. I'd like to propose we request to be allowed to sit-in on that meeting and listen to the discussion on how implementation plans are proceeding. Another possibility is to request that the meeting be audio recorded (or transcribed) and that we be allowed to listen to an .mp3 of the discussion. I can't imagine any reason why this discussion would be confidential from us and it certainly would aid in our understanding. Thanks, Robin

Robin, Excellent idea. As I said on the recent GNSO Council call I was a little taken aback by comments that there were no milestones for the ICANN Board in place. It would be good to obtain some "first hand" insight into the process from the staff and Board perspective. How can we make this happen? Whether this happens or not, I strongly believe that staff needs to provide us the following information in New Delhi, possibly in the session scheduled on that topic for Saturday afternoon: 1. In what ways has staff implementation work deviated from recommendations by the GNSO? 2. For which recommendations is there indication do some Board members have reservations and hence may not approve? 3. What process will be followed to involve the GNSO in either of the two above cases?
