As you all know, we are schedule for a working session with the Board on the Sunday in Cartanega. The session is one hour, from 14:30 to 15:30. This is a new format. This session with the Board is in addition to our traditional more "social" dinner event. As part of our meeting planning duties, Glen and I have been asked to provide an agenda for this meeting. So if people have topics they would like to discuss, please post them on the list asap or send them to the Council Chairs so that the agenda can be finalised. Thanks, Stéphane

Hi Stephane, there will be remote participation for councilors who won't be in Cartagena for that session? Regards Rafik 2010/11/25 Stéphane Van Gelder <stephane.vangelder@indom.com>

Hi Rafik, I don't have an answer for you. That is outside the realm of the agenda for the GNSO Council that I am tasked with organising. It resides with the ICANN meeting planners. I'm sure there will be, but can anyone from Staff confirm this? Stéphane Le 25 nov. 2010 à 14:59, Rafik Dammak a écrit :

Hi Well, particularly since we might not have time to explore them much with the GAC, a conversation that includes Rec. 6 and applicant support—substantive strengths and weaknesses of the groups' outputs to date, best ways to carry these initiatives forward—would certainly of interest… Best, Bill On Nov 25, 2010, at 2:26 PM, Stéphane Van Gelder wrote:

Here are the topics that I have made a note of as having been suggested so far: - A conversation that includes Rec. 6 and applicant support—substantive strengths and weaknesses of the groups' outputs to date, best ways to carry these initiatives forward. - Next challenges of the new gtld process: vertical integration next steps, lowering barriers for special projects, outcomes of the outreach activities done so far. - Outcomes of the Affirmation of Committments (what has been achieved so far?). Please let me know if there are other suggestions. Thanks, Stéphane Le 25 nov. 2010 à 14:26, Stéphane Van Gelder a écrit :

We have an hour, right? Yes, we have an hour. If others want to discuss other items, we might simply want to prioritize to some extent and decide which items seem the most important from Council's point of view. If there are no other topics, then we can simply go-ahead with the items already mentioned. I am mindful that's it's thanksgiving in the US so people may not have had time to respond yet. I suggest waiting until Monday and then making a final determination. Thoughts? Stéphane Le 26 nov. 2010 à 17:40, tim@godaddy.com a écrit :

Hi Stephane, some questions: Here are the topics that I have made a note of as having been suggested so
far:
- A conversation that includes Rec. 6 and applicant support—substantive strengths and weaknesses of the groups' outputs to date, best ways to carry these initiatives forward.
I guess that we are going to talk about the idea of cross-community working groups or it is about the outcome of those groups?or both?
- Next challenges of the new gtld process: vertical integration next steps, lowering barriers for special projects, outcomes of the outreach activities done so far.
for lower barriers for special projects, do you mean JAS works? because it is first time to see mention of "special projects" which may have restrictive meaning. Rafik

Hello Stéphane,
Subject: [council] Re: Meeting with the Board on Sunday in Cartagena
Here are the topics that I have made a note of as having been suggested so far:
- A conversation that includes Rec. 6 and applicant support-substantive strengths and weaknesses of the groups' outputs to date, best ways to carry these initiatives forward.
- Next challenges of the new gtld process: vertical integration next steps, lowering barriers for special projects, outcomes of the outreach activities done so far.
One topic that as a Board member I wold be interested in discussing, is how will we review the success of the new gTLD launch. It is a requirement under our Affirmation of Commitments to do so. I would like to ask the GNSO to consider what the measures of success should be. There might be some short term measures (e.g number of applications, number of applications with non-Latin characters) and also long term measures (DNS traffic from new gTLDs, number of second level registrations etc). Prior to a review process - I would like to understand what we will be measuring, and what targets for those measures would be seen as "success" by the GNSO. So I would like to request if the GNSO agrees that we add an agenda item: - measuring success of the new gTLD program Regards, Bruce Tonkin

Thanks Bruce. Is the Board working on its own set of discussion items for this session? Or are you asking the Council to add that point to its list of items? Stéphane Le 26 nov. 2010 à 18:36, Bruce Tonkin a écrit :

Thank you Bruce. We can add this to our list of items and indicate that it is something the Board would like to discuss. Is that OK? Stéphane Le 28 nov. 2010 à 22:19, Bruce Tonkin a écrit :

Is the Board working on its own set of discussion items for this session?
Not that I know of.
Or are you asking the Council to add that point to its list of items?
just a suggestion. I was planning to ask the GNSO for advice on this topic.
