The ICANN Policy Staff provides monthly updates in response to requests from the community for periodic summaries of ICANN's policy work. The goal of the Policy Update is to maximize transparency and encourage broad community participation in ICANN's policy development activities. Links to additional information are included and readers are encouraged to go beyond these brief summaries to learn more about the ICANN community's work. As always, the Policy Staff welcomes comments and suggestions on how to improve its policy communications efforts. Please send these comments to policy-staff@icann.org<mailto:policy-staff@icann.org>.
The BC formally protests the present ICANN travel policy as inadequate for the needs of the GNSO. The notification below of our needs for Cairo in the format requested by the ICANN chair for pragmatic interim purposes should not be construed in any way as support tacit or otherwise. ----------------------------- The BC needs for travel support for Cairo are: 1. Mike Rodenbaugh. 2. Zahid Jamil who writes: "I will be unable to attend Cairo without support for air fare and hotel since the organisation I represent is a very small entity, without any available funding." 3. Philip Sheppard who writes: "I request travel support in my representative capacity on behalf of commercial users who are affected by ICANN policies. While my association is willing to donate my time it is profoundly unreasonable to expect it to also fund out of pocket travel costs for work that is fundamental to ICANN when ICANN's budget is in excess of USD 60 million".
Hi, I thank you and acknowledge the protest. a. On 25 Aug 2008, at 04:33, Philip Sheppard wrote:
