Thank you Glen for passing on this message. I too would like to see that we have motions ready 10 days before. And it may helpful that the BOARD is making rules about schedules, I certainly accept their right to make rules about such requirements for themselves and for the GAC. However since we have always worked on a 7 day before bases, I will not exclude from consideration anything that makes the 7 day deadline though of course other council may object to taking such a vote and then we will postpone as we have done in the past.. any council votes will only be voted on at the 24 June meeting, so as I understand the deadlines: 10 day would be 24 June 7 day would be 17 June Of course the earlier a motion is posted the better, but with trying to coordinate out work with things that are being done elsewhere, e.g. by the board and its committees, and the fact that these this are often delayed, it does not make sense to withhold work from the face to face meeting. thanks. a.
Avri, I think you meant 14 June for the 10-day deadline. Chuck

It is not clear to me that this applies to motions. In fact, a case can be made that it does not because the motions the Board acts on in its meeting are for the most part made within 24 hours of their meeting. Chuck

I agree, I did not take this to apply to motions but only to documents submitted for the GAC's consideration (reports for example). Stéphane Le 03/06/09 14:00, « Gomes, Chuck » <cgomes@verisign.com> a écrit :

Hi, Yes, but it seems to be a hammer that is being used in many places where on first blush one would not think it applicable. So I wanted to be clear about it not being applied to GNSO council motions. BTW, note that the Board imposed deadlines were working days, while our deadline is calendar days. There are only 12 working days til Sydney (or is that 11) - GAC deadline has passed. The other Board deadline is this week. Whereas, there are 13 calendar days (or 10 regulation workdays) until the outside most date for motions for the council meeting. Nonetheless, the sooner the better for anyone working on a motion. thanks a. On 3 Jun 2009, at 11:29, Stéphane Van Gelder wrote:
