FW: A further update on the Final Report of the CCWG new gTLD Auction Proceeds Working Group
Dear councilors, For information to those at council who may be unaware of this minority statement and for those who are, who may also be interested in the (matter-of-factly) notification of that report to the ccNSO council. Regards, Philippe From: Ccnso-council [mailto:ccnso-council-bounces@icann.org] On Behalf Of Stephen Deerhake @ ASNIC Sent: Friday, May 29, 2020 6:28 AM To: ccNSO-Council@icann.org Subject: [ccnso-council] A further update on the Final Report of the CCWG new gTLD Auction Proceeds Working Group Greetings fellow Council Members, As a follow-up to my correspondence regarding the circulation of the Final Report of the new gTLD Auction Proceeds Cross Community Working Group to the CCWG that I sent to you yesterday, please permit me to provide you an update. A minority statement has been formally filed by the Commercial Stakeholders Group (CSG) from the GNSO. It’s pretty brutal with it’s objection to the “consensus” adoption of Mechanism A, which I described in my previous correspondence. It challenges the “consensus” expressed in the final report. This objection comes from the Intellectual Property Constituency (IPC). Whether it becomes a formal appendix to the CCWG final report, or is referenced as a URL to the CCWG Wiki, is an open question, to be determined by the CCWG Co-chairs. I have advised our ccNSO elected ICANN Board members of this development, as the IPC objection makes specific demands of the ICANN Board.
