Nominet consultation paper on IDN's
Hello All, Given the recent discussion on IDN's by the ICANN Board and on the GNSO Council, Council members may be interested in this consultation paper from Nominet (operator of .co.uk). See: http://www.nominet.org.uk/content/files/PabIdnConsult2Pdf.pdf Regards, Bruce Tonkin
Thanks, Bruce. I would appreciate having any other relevant documents as fellow Councilors are aware of them. I wonder if we might not benefit from a cross SO consultation and discussion on this important topic, with our "sister" SO, the ccNSO. We have before us the question of working across the SOs on relevant policy issues. Clearly, the IDN issue is a primary candidate for such a discussion. -----Original Message----- From: owner-council@gnso.icann.org [mailto:owner-council@gnso.icann.org] On Behalf Of Bruce Tonkin Sent: Monday, June 06, 2005 9:36 PM To: council@gnso.icann.org Subject: [council] Nominet consultation paper on IDN's Hello All, Given the recent discussion on IDN's by the ICANN Board and on the GNSO Council, Council members may be interested in this consultation paper from Nominet (operator of .co.uk). Dear Council Members: It is with mixed emotions that I point you to the following announcement (http://www.icann.org/announcements/announcement-07jun05.htm) regarding Paul Verhoef. I am sad that the ICANN community, particularly the GNSO, will be losing Paul as an important resource. Although I am happy that the European Commission has tapped Paul for the post of head of unit for Project 'Galileo' and Intelligent Transport in the Directorate General for Energy and Transport. Having worked with the US GPS system during my previous engineering endeavors, this project is a tremendous opportunity for Paul and I am sure the entire council wish him well in this new endeavor. Best regards, Michael D. Palage
