Resolutions from the ICANN Board meeting on Thursday 12 Feb
Hello All, The resolutions from the ICANN Board meeting on 12 Feb 2014, are available at: https://www.icann.org/resources/board-material/resolutions-2015-02-12-en Key ones relevant to the GNSO include: - approval of the GNSO Policy recommendations for Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy Part D - direction to staff to immediately begin collecting data on the metrics recommended in the Implementation Advisory Group for Competition, Consumer Trust and Consumer Choice Final Report, prioritizing those that are time-sensitive, and where data has been determined to be available - regarding two character second level domain names, the Board directs the staff to proceed immediately as follows: ◾Implement improvements to the process to alert relevant governments when requests are initiated. Comments from relevant governments will be fully considered. ◾For new requests, the comment period will be for 60 days. ◾For requests with pending or completed comment periods, extend or re-open the comment period so that each request will undergo 60 days of comment period in total.
Thanks Bruce On the two character issue, can you explain why two letters from the RySG to the Board are not listed in the documents considered by the Board as part of their deliberations? Donna Donna Austin RYSG Sent from my iPhone

Hello Donna,
On the two character issue, can you explain why two letters from the RySG to the Board are not listed in the documents considered by the Board as part of their deliberations?
Fair question. The letter from the Registry Stakeholder group as well as discussions with both the registries and registrars during the week was taken into account in discussions amongst Board members during the week. The letter should have been referenced in the whereas clauses for the resolution. The main reason that it wasn't was because we drafted that resolution during a busy day on Thursday to give closure on the issue while affected parties were in Singapore, and it was simply missed. My apologies. I will see if we can include an explicit link on the https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/meetings-2014-01-06-en website to that correspondence. Regards, Bruce Tonkin
