Dear Councilors, Thank you to all of the willing volunteers! Lest this be a product of “fear of missing out”, Support Staff did want to clarify the scope of this group. During the Strategic Planning Session in December, Council agreed that it should seek to limit the likelihood of the Council approving PDP recommendations and the Board being unable to adopt the recommendations. Within this discussion, the Council discussed developing a “one-pager” on what it means for recommendations to be “board ready”. Our impression coming out of ICANN80, though please feel free to correct(!), was for a few volunteers to review and provide input on an existing one-pager that explains the concept of board readiness and provides examples of factors that contribute to board readiness. We did not envision an official small team that meets regularly at this point. Once the small group provides feedback and is comfortable with the status of the document, it will be shared with the full Council for further feedback. When the Council agrees on what board readiness means and how to best achieve it (as documented in the one-pager), it may make sense to have a small team work together to implement any improvements that may be needed. This isn’t meant to exclude anyone; all of the volunteers are welcome to provide feedback on the document Support Staff prepared. We did, however, think it may be helpful to clarify expectations.
