Hi all, The GNSO Council Leadership Team and our Staff colleagues met today to review our Action Items from Montreal and to plan our upcoming work heading into the December meeting. We also discussed the selection of the GNSO Council participant for the 2020 ICANN Leadership Program. I apologize for missing the original email announcement and not flagging this earlier, which prevented us from handing the selection process to the GNSO Council’s Standing Selection Committee (SSC). With the deadline upon us, we did not feel like we could properly and fairly assess all three candidates in the time remaining, but we also didn’t want to miss the opportunity to send one of those who expressed interest. Therefore, we decided to have our Secretariat (Nathalie) randomize the three names using the random list generator at www.random.org<http://www.random.org> to identify our primary and alternate, as requested by the organizers. The randomized list returned in the order of Carlton, Sebastian and Farrell, so Carlton will be our appointee and Sebastian will be the alternate. Again, I regret not being able to use the SSC to conduct a more formal review and selection process. Thanks for your patience and understanding. The GNSO Council Leadership Team and our Staff colleagues met today to review our Action Items from Montreal and to plan our upcoming work heading into the December meeting.
We also discussed the selection of the GNSO Council participant for the 2020 ICANN Leadership Program. I apologize for missing the original email announcement and not flagging this earlier, which prevented us from handing the selection process to the GNSO Council’s Standing Selection Committee (SSC).
With the deadline upon us, we did not feel like we could properly and fairly assess all three candidates in the time remaining, but we also didn’t want to miss the opportunity to send one of those who expressed interest. Therefore, we decided to have our Secretariat (Nathalie) randomize the three names using the random list generator at www.random.org to identify our primary and alternate, as requested by the organizers.
The randomized list returned in the order of Carlton, Sebastian and Farrell, so Carlton will be our appointee and Sebastian will be the alternate.
Again, I regret not being able to use the SSC to conduct a more formal review and selection process.
