Councillors, Following on from Glen's timely reminder, I would like to propose a second topic: CWGs and how the Board views them. My aim is to have a discussion on the way CWGs are perceived as I think it important that the wider community, and the Board, do not perceive the final reports or work that comes out of these groups as necessarily being endorsed by the SOs and ACs that participate in them, unless those SOs and ACs specifically say so. Just to clarify, I did NOT propose the topic: "Consumer Choice, Competition and Innovation: context of the Board resolution" It was proposed during the last council conf call. My email only included it for you to have it in mind. I have not special preference for any of the topics proposed, which I find all relevant. I think I am to blame for the Consumer Choice topic ;) So in summary, we have as proposed topics: "Consumer Choice, Competition and Innovation: context of the Board resolution" "The role of the GNSO community in addressing any new items that come out of the GAC/BD discussions on new gTLDs. More specifically, to the extent that there are any inconsistencies between the policy advice given by the GNSO and what the ICANN Board agrees to with the GAC, how will those matters be handled?" I would like to add a topic (if others agree) on new TLDs, but specifically the role of the GNSO community in addressing any new items that come out of the GAC/BD discussions on new gTLDs. More specifically, to the extent that there are any inconsistencies between the policy advice given by the GNSO and what the ICANN Board agrees to with the GAC, how will those matters be handled? I did attend the Brussels meeting this week and I am not so concerned about the concessions that were already made (other than some implementation questions I have as a registry), but if some of the "2s" given by the ICANN Board become a "1A or 1B" in the next few weeks, I believe we may have a conflict that needs to be worked out.
