FW: [Soac-leadership] Final - Process for Retirement of Non-Policy Recommendations
Dear Councilors, I am forwarding this note regarding the process for retirement of non-policy recommendations because it appears that feedback provided by the GNSO was incorporated. Thanks, Greg From: Soac-leadership <soac-leadership-bounces@icann.org> On Behalf Of Alperen Eken Sent: Wednesday, January 17, 2024 8:12 AM To: soac-leadership@icann.org Cc: Mary Wong <mary.wong@icann.org> Subject: [EXTERNAL] [Soac-leadership] Final - Process for Retirement of Non-Policy Recommendations CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization. Dear SO/AC Leaders, I would like to thank you again for the opportunity to share the Proposed Process for Retirement of Non-Policy Recommendations with you in September, and for the feedback we received in the ensuing consultation<https://community.icann.org/display/PTRNR>. We are pleased to inform you that the process has been refined to address the areas for improvement identified by the GNSO Council<https://community.icann.org/download/attachments/273454137/dibiase-to-seppia-04dec23.pdf?version=1&modificationDate=1701767670000&api=v2>, and the ccNSO Council and its Guideline Review Committee Council<https://community.icann.org/download/attachments/273454137/ccNSO%20Comment%20-%20proposal%20to%20retire%20non-policy%20recommendations.pdf?version=1&modificationDate=1702024446000&api=v2>. More in details: * A new step 2 was added to allow for the issue paper to be sent to SO/AC leaders, along with a request to send any feedback from their communities. This earlier community engagement will allow ICANN org to gauge initial reaction, and will serve to better inform the relevant grouping(s) of the ICANN Board on whether to proceed with the next step, which entails submitting the paper to the community prioritization group. * The process was also modified to enable any SO/AC that selected members to the Specific Review or served as a Chartering Organization to the Cross-Community Working Group that generated the recommendation at issue, to request that ICANN org initiates the retirement process. Should you have any further questions about the process (see attached), please feel free to reach out to me or my team.
