The break, though, is now over and this email is intended to restart momentum. You will have seen an earlier email with the announcement that the IANA/PTI FY21 budget cycle has begun. If you look back on the GNSO Council's Project List <https://gnso.icann.org/en/meetings/projects-list.pdf> (towards the bottom of the PDF), the SCBO has completed a fair amount of work over the past few years, including the earlier days prior to this group being formally chartered by the GNSO Council in early 2018. The "Workplan" section of the SCBO project contains links to prior comments developed in contribution to public comment proceedings. Below is a summary of activities ahead of the SCBO over the coming months. Renewed Call for Volunteers (CfV): 1. Shortly, staff will send a notice to the GNSO Council asking for current members to confirm their continued participation on the SCBO and to extend an invitation to the new incoming Councilors. The SCBO roster <https://community.icann.org/download/attachments/74580769/Roster%20-%20SCBO %20WG-2020-01-15.pdf?version=1&modificationDate=1579111997000&api=v2> currently shows coverage across the SGs and Cs, although not in true form as defined in the charter <https://community.icann.org/download/attachments/74580767/gnso-council-budg et-charter_v1.1.pdf?version=1&modificationDate=1540727828000&api=v2> . 2. In parallel, staff will send a CfV notice to the SG/C Leaders asking them to confirm their respective SME's continued participation or to put forward new persons interested in representing their respective group. 3. I'm not expecting a large change to our current roster, but this level of confirmation is required as part of the charter and hopefully we find some new interest. Note: any SME members presently on the roster that are not (re)confirmed by their respective SG/C Leadership by mid-November will be converted to "Observer - Email Only" on the SCBO roster and mailing list. SCBO Chair: * Absent objections from the GNSO Council, John McElwaine has confirmed offline that he is willing to stand as SCBO Chair for the 2020-2021 cycle. Staff thanks him for his leadership in the last fiscal year. Joint Session of CCNSO (SOPC) with GNSO (SCBO): * In last year's cycle, the SCBO had a few collaboration sessions with the SOPC, the CCNSO's version of their budget and operations team. We are expecting to repeat it for the 2020-2021 cycle. I've attached the Finance team's presentation used for ICANN69. Slide 26 contains the timeline for the ICANN Org budget and ops plan public comment. We'll target the last week of Jan. or first week of Feb. 2021 for the two groups to exchange positions on the FY22 budget prior to the close of the public comment period. * For ICANN70, we'll likely attempt a joint session to continue discussions around the public comment on FY22 Budget and Operating plan, among other topics. The scheduling of the joint session has been challenging due to competing GNSO sessions. The SOPC schedules a standing meeting on Sunday's for ICANN meetings. We'll announce more details as we approach the end of the year. Please start to work with your respective leadership groups in preparation for the renewed Call for Volunteers. Thank you.
