Dear Sebastien: Thank you very much for your invitation to join the Council’s Strategic Planning Session (SPS) in Los Angeles next month for our recently established tradition of an informal Council & ICANN President and CEO Q & A session. Unfortunately, I will not be in Los Angeles during the dates of the SPS. As a result, I would like to suggest that we try to schedule this session in the January timeframe as a virtual session, which will also allow you and the Council to provide me with an update on your discussions and outcomes of the SPS. In addition to welcoming the Council to Los Angeles and wishing you a successful meeting, I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank the Council for the constructive engagement and work you have undertaken over recent months, both within the GNSO community as well as with ICANN org on topics of high importance such as DNS Abuse and the Whois Disclosure System. I am glad that it is possible again for you and the rest of the Council to get together in a face-to-face setting to build relationships and work on your strategic planning for the year head. I also look forward to our continued engagement on PDP Improvements. As you know, one of my goals for this fiscal year is to continue to engage with the GNSO to improve the Policy Development Process lifecycle, from development through implementation. My staff has shared with me the work you are undertaking in this area, and I sincerely appreciate the pragmatic and constructive approach that is being applied to identifying and implementing improvements. I, and my staff, remain available to support you in these efforts as needed and of course, from our side we also continue to review and evolve our approaches and practices for supporting the community in developing as well as implementing policy. I wish you a fruitful meeting and look forward to hearing the results. Sincerely, /s/ Goran Marby ----------------------------- David A.
