Call for Volunteers: Registration Data Policy Implementation - Informal pre-IRT ICANN org is currently seeking volunteers to participate in an informal Pre-Implementation Review Team, or “pre-IRT.” The pre-IRT will assist the ICANN implementation project team in planning implementation work for the EPDP Team’s policy recommendations. Ayden, we checked with our colleagues supporting the IRT and “Observers” is not a standard practice in the Implementation Process as they consider the whole community as observers of the implementation. All emails are posted and available to the public and there is no separate “read-only email group” for people to subscribe to and maintained. We understand that some may prefer to receive the emails directly in their inbox instead of having to go to the archives for convenience. Those people are encouraged to join the IRT keeping in mind that the IRT is a team of reviewers. If you feel that a “read-only email group” is something that is needed for those not joining the Pre-IRT, please let us know so that we can pass on your request to the Implementation Team. As you might imagine, there is a lot of work for the implementation team so we are being sensitive to their workloads and priorities. Please also note that the Pre-IRT is expected to be replaced by the IRT next month so this email list will be short lived. Thank you for checking with them, Marika. As a matter of transparency, I think all working groups, no matter how short lived they may be, should have read-only mailing lists available so that Observers can audit their work. I appreciate that those supporting the Implementation Team may have a lot on their plate at the moment, but I do not think this is a big ask - no one should be denied permission to subscribe to the list on a read-only basis, so perhaps the mailing list could be configured like others to allow anyone to subscribe? One other concern. I hope the pre-IRT will not be working with closed Google Docs like the Technical Study Group did. When this happens, it is impossible for Observers to audit their work and I worry that these important files are not being archived for posterity like GNSO mailing lists are. I think we should be working openly, so I hope there are no intentions to gate documents behind restricted-access Google Docs. Thank you.
