Dear Stéphane, please find below the invitation to the eco reception on Monday, which eco is doing to send out shorty.
Your short address does not need to take longer than 10 mins. I have called it "GNSO - A Brief Introduction to Current and Future Challenges".
I am looking forward to seeing you on Saturday.
Best, Thomas
I don't get it. What's the point? Who is the audience of the reception etc... It doesn't make sense to me. The point, as far as I'm concerned, is doing GNSO outreach. As for the other questions, I'll let Thomas answer if he wants to. If me doing a 10-minute talk on the way the GNSO works is going to give rise to suspicions, rather than constructive comments on how this can help improve awareness of what the GNSO Council does, I'm happy not to do it. Are you objecting to me doing it? Do others feel I should not do it? Please let me know asap. It's because I have been invited in my capacity as Chair that I wanted to give the Council prior warning in case this posed a problem to some. Adrian, I agree, there's something "confusingly similar" which on the top level should be avoided. I'm sure ECO will reserve a cool beer for you - in case you pass by the reception to hear Stéphane's German speech :-) Wolf-Ulrich ________________________________ Von: Adrian Kinderis [mailto:adrian@ausregistry.com.au] Gesendet: Donnerstag, 20. eco always holds a reception/party at ICANN meetings, very relaxed and informal events, mostly German speakers. I can't see the harm of Stéphane giving some non-official comments on what's up in the GNSO these days to a crowd of cheery people clutching beers… Bill On Oct 20, 2011, at 2:14 AM, Stéphane Van Gelder wrote:

Cool. Last I heard there was quite a lot of concern about SVG making unofficial comments... damned if he does damned if he doesn't! So long as he is prepared to go to every event and do the same if requested. My fear is the precedent it sets. I just can't understand why they want him there, quite frankly (aside from his French joie de vivre). I suspect it potentially could be to legitimise their interests, which could be dangerous. Wait for the press release the next day that includes a photograph of the GNSO Chair speaking at the .eco party (especially when this has been a hotly debated TLD!). Who else is speaking?
