SPS Action Item #2: Small Team Transparency Guidance
Dear Councilors, In respect of action item below from the Strategic Planning Session: “Proposed action item #2: Review current small team practices to determine if there is further transparency that can be introduced in the small team activities without changing the nature of these small teams and/or creating additional burdens for staff and/or small team members. One specific suggestion was to publicly archive small team email lists, like the Council mailing list” Staff has worked with Council leadership to prepare a draft guidance document for small teams, to try and document transparency elements. As that guidance was being developed, we believed that it may also be helpful to provide overall guidance and set expectations for small teams more broadly, not just for transparency requirements. Please find the draft GNSO Council Small Team Guidance document here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DqlivLabWSnYnoP76UnS-BXf_7wYYvoGUhc7FNoD.... Please see the “Documentation of the Work” section at the end of the document if you are specifically interested in the transparency elements. As an example of the new transparency elements in action, please see the updated Wiki page design for the small team that reviewed the SubPro ODA: https://community.icann.org/display/gnsocouncilmeetings/Completed-SubPro+ODA.... You will see tabs that allow for the capture of at least Membership, Documents, and Meeting Recordings (where applicable). We appreciate your input on both the guidance document and the revisions to the Wiki page. Thanks for this, Steve. I was going to ask if this effort to promote/preserve transparency of Council small team activities would extend retrospectively to all past small teams (to the extent possible since some of the calls may not have been recorded) but I see that staff have already included those details starting from 2020, in the Wiki page. This is fantastic, thank you, staff! Kind regards, Justine On Sat, 4 Mar 2023 at 08:10, Steve Chan via council <council@gnso.icann.org> wrote:
