Meeting the ICANN CEO & Board in Buenos Aires
All, We have managed some successful meetings with the CEO and Board and the recent ICANN meetings, partly through being well prepared and giving them appropriate notice of subject matter. Bearing in mind that the CEO is part of the board, we need to be careful not to overlap the subjects too closely unless there is good reason. My sense is that the theme of the evolving landscape of internet governance is likely to be a "meta-theme" throughout the Buenos Aires meeting and it will get plenty of airtime. For that reason, we may not wish to focus on it? Please can you replay to this with any thoughts you have on topics we could effectively cover with Fadi and the Board. To kick things off, we could consider: CEO . Strategy Panels (although this is likely the subject of our meeting with Theresa Swineheart) . ? . ? Board . GNSO Review - Update on current thinking . ? . ? Look forward to any input as soon as possible. Thanks, Jonathan
Hi Jonathan, with the view of the Montevideo declaration, I think it would be interesting if Fadi could detail his vision for the future of ICANN and the role of the multi-stakeholder model in its current interpretation in the international context. While this was already the topic at a recent telephone conference between the stakeholder groups, the GNSO and the CEO, it may be helpful to deep dive a bit more at this meeting. Volker

Thanks Volker, Fadi has confirmed that he will meet with the GNSO Council as part of the GNSO working sessions. This is scheduled for Sunday morning immediately prior to our meeting with Theresa Swineheart. He is expecting to discuss with us the changing landscape of international governance. In particular, I indicated that we would want to discuss the links with and implications for the GNSO and the bottom-up, multi-stakeholder processes within the ICANN model. The session with Fadi, followed by the one with Theresa should give us the opportunity to really discuss some of the key strategic issues and their potential impact for our work within the GNSO within the broader context. A theme or set of topics for discussion with the board is still work in progress but I am definitely expecting to get some form of update on the thinking regarding board commissioned reviews and the GNSO Review in particular.
