ICANN Regoinal Liaison: Jacob Malthouse
Colleagues I said on the Council call today that ICANN's first Regional Liaison has been appointed. Jacob Malthouse is responsible for Canada and the Caribbean. He is based in the MdR office reporting to Theresa Swinehart. MF and I had a conference call with Jacob yesterday to give him a brief overview of the GNSO and we also discussed how the RL function could support the work of the GNSO especially in terms of outreach and building participation. If you have specific ideas about how the GNSO can make good use of the regional liaison initiatives, could you please let Maria Farrell know? She will funnel great ideas to Jacob which we can expect to see in action over the next few months. Welcome Jacob. Thank you for the introduction Liz. Are there any other support documents that you could point me to? i.e. org chart, job descriptions, etc., anything that might help me better understand your request? Much thanks in advance and best wishes to Jacob with his new position. -rwr Liz Williams wrote:

Ross My apologies - I had meant to put the http://www.icann.org/general/jobs.htm#RegionalLiaisonManagers in the message and forgot. I am sure Jacob will fill in the gaps when he has warmed the MdR seat for a few more days. In the meanwhile, here's some unofficial bio information which may assist. ... Jacob is a Canadian national and holds a BA in Cultural Geography and Economics. He previously led the investment team at the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative, a global partnership between the United Nations and the financial services sector. While at UNEP FI Jacob was one of the founders of the Principles for Responsible Investment process. His responsibilities also included the Asset Management Working Group and the North American Task Force. Prior to this he held a joint internship with the International Institute for Sustainable Development and the United Nations Environment Programme. During university Jacob did research at the Global Environmental Change and Human Security Project, aid work in Guyana, communications and statistics at the British Columbia Ministry of Agriculture and Lands, and community planning at the Regional District of Comox-Strathcona.
