Dear CPWG Members,

Following the call for At-Large Community volunteers to help review documents under the Fourth Proceeding for Proposed Language for Draft Sections of Next Round AGB, a team of reviewers was assembled. The team needed time to review and was unable to meet the original target of 26 Feb for presenting a recommendation.

The review team has now completed its first round substantive review of the documents, and on behalf of the team members, I would like to share our recommendation - which is that a comment of the ALAC is warranted for this public comment, and for the reasons set out in
Review of 4th proceeding for the proposed language for draft sections of the AGB presentation deck(About) thirty minutes have been allocated during the ICANN82: At-Large Hot Topics (Policy/Ops) session for us to present and discuss our recommendation with the community, and next steps, so please join us then.

Kind regards from this Review Team,

Cheryl Langdon-Orr, Seth Adjei Gyimah, Eunice Perez Coello, Mwangala Edward Muma, Avri Doria, and Justine Chew

Dear CPWG Members,

On behalf of the CPWG co-chairs, we are seeking At-Large Community volunteers to consider the Fourth Proceeding for Proposed Language for Draft Sections of Next Round AGB recently posted for public comment by ICANN org.

Your insights and/or expertise on the subject matter for public comment would be helpful for:

  • Firstly, reviewing and identifying any need for the ALAC to submit a comment, and secondly, where such need arises, presenting issues - in the form of bullet points - for discussion at one or more Working Group calls.
  • If the Working Group subsequently reaches consensus on the need for an ALAC comment, volunteering as a penholder to craft a concise thoughtful response (i.e. an ALAC statement) to this public comment.

As this public comment will close on 02 April 2025, the proposed schedule for the above-mentioned tasks is as follows:

  • Reviewer(s): Establish if an ALAC comment is needed.
  • Reviewer(s): Initial Bullet Point(s) presentation and rationale for discussion in order to establish working group consensus –CPWG call on 26 February 2025

And if needed,

  • Penholder(s): First Draft Statement presentation and discussion – At-Large Policy Session on 08 March 2025 at ICANN82
  • Community: Comment on Draft Statement – 09 March 2025  –  24 March 2025
  • Penholder(s): Final Draft Statement presentation – CPWG call on 26 March 2025
  • ALAC: Vote on Final Statement – 27 March 2025  –  01 April 2025
  • Staff: Submission of ALAC Statement – 02 April 2025

If you are interested in volunteering to be a reviewer and/or penholder, please volunteer during the upcoming CPWG call on 19 February 2025 or by reach out to At-Large Staff (staff@atlarge.icann.org), copying the CPWG co-chairs, Olivier Crépin-Leblond (ocl@gih.com) and Avri Doria (avri@doria.org) by Tuesday, 18 February 2025 at 23:59 UTC

Your participation is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to your contributions!

Thank you.

Kind Regards,
