Greg did not say that ALL 3rd part access benefits users. He said that all users benefit from (some) 3rd party access (A implies B does is not cummutative!).

Those who fight spam, malware, phishing and develop reputation services use WHOIS, and that help virtually all users (except those doing the naughty things).
