Subsequent Procedures Update: Name Collisions, snapshot as at 11 Sep 2019
Dear all, Reference is made to the *SubPro Updates Workspace* <https://community.icann.org/display/alacpolicydev/At-Large+Workspace%3A+SubP...> . At the last CPWG call of 11 Sep 19:00 UTC, I provided a snapshot of where the Subsequent Procedures PDP WG was at with respect to considering public comments received to its Initial Report on the topic of Name Collisions. Here is the *snapshot on Name Collisions as at 11 Sep* <https://community.icann.org/download/attachments/111390697/01.%20SubPro%20Na...> . While no CCT recommendations have been tagged to this topic, SubPro WG has noted a number of developments in this area, namely: (1) the ICANN Board's most recent resolution of 14 March 2019 authorizing the (Name Collisions Analysis Project) NCAP Study 1 <https://www.icann.org/resources/board-material/resolutions-2019-03-14-en#2.h...>; and (2) the RFP by ICANN for a contractor to undertake NCAP Study 1 <https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-2019-07-22-en>. At the said CPWG call, I also mentioned that SubPro WG deliberations on Name Collisions were only due to begin at its (then) next call which was on 12 Sep 20:00 UTC after which I would attempt to provide CPWG with a further update on this topic. As it turned out, SubPro WG did start its deliberations on the topic but not sufficiently deeply to facilitate a useful revised update on my part. Therefore, I will defer any attempt to provide one until next week. Justine Chew -----
