Volunteers and input to Transfer Policy Review Working Group Final Report for ICANN Board Consideration
Dear all, I have volunteered to work on the Transfer Policy Review Working Group Final Report for ICANN Board Consideration but kindly ask for assistance. The first task is to make bullet points on what we should focus on. The deadline for this is set to May 14, 2025. I have started drafting on a Google doc. This Google doc is open for all with the link to comment. If you have some ideas and input on what we should comment, please add a bullet point with a small description. The bullets will be reviewed on the CPWG call on May 14, 2025. Please add your comments to https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xrUMNt42FwBdHXY9B9eqsvFTSjZ4DVtRZbcq08Qk... Thanks in advance. Regards, Steinar Grøtterød
Hello Steinar, My 2 cents on the approach for this public comment is: 1. Has there been any change in circumstances since the Final Report was published that requires the ALAC to weigh in with a response? 2. Considering that there was full consensus (if I recall correctly) on all recommendations, is there a need to repeat or reinforce what the ALAC has stated for the Final Report recommendations? So unless there is something that the ALAC should draw the Board's attention to, then perhaps, if at all, all the ALAC needs to do is to commend all recommendations to the Board for their consideration? Hi Justine, Thanks for valued comments and input. To your comments: ALAC agreed on the recommendations. Rec #33 was the only recommendation we (finally) agreed to a “compromise”. At the last CPWG meeting, I asked for guidance if we should give a comment to the ICANN Board particular on Rec #33 and other recommendations but seen from a more “end-user” viewpoint. We were also informed that NCSG has created a "Transfer Policy Review – Human Rights Impact Assessment (HRIA): Enhanced Assessment Matrix<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aQetWyuO0S_0FD0-cFlAFz4cm0km5bywoC7JYtcq7FU/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.owswmusrjcc6>”. Maybe there are elements in this documents that ALAC want to use. Hopefully we can decide on this at the next CPWG meeting (May 14, 2025). Hi Steinar, Just on the NCSG HRIA, it's on the GNSO Council meeting agenda next week on 15 May, so I can try to circle back with thoughts (if any) after that Council meeting. Kind regards, Justine On Fri, 9 May 2025 at 22:43, Steinar Grøtterød <steinar@recito.no> wrote:
