I am not going to venture into the debate about price of .org domain, renewal or otherwise. More importantly, it seems to me that the chances of ICANN negotiating to get, at minimum, all these expressed commitments incorporated in an amendment to the .org RA are pretty high, given that ISOC, PIR and Ethos Capital have all jointly announced them. https://www.keypointsabout.org/blog/the-internet-society-pir-and-ethos-respo... https://www.keypointsabout.org/blog/commentary-what-makes-ethos-capital-a-re... And if ICANN doesn't succeed fairly immediately, that would give us some indication of the integrity of that tripartite relationship. SO: Has ICANN indicated officially that they will be engaging in such a negotiation (which can only be review of .org contract)? Will appreciate reference to that. Regards

I've heard the following argument used multiple times now to justify the transaction ... "transaction is designed and intended to serve the public interest in two distinct ways: (1) by ensuring the long-term growth and development of the .ORG domain, and (2) by providing essential support for the ongoing work of the Internet Society." Can anyone tell me why .ORG "growth" benefits anyone other than Ethos? Am I missing something? I have not yet seen any argument that this transaction benefits end users, however, I have seen added risks to end users by changing the future role that PIR would play in the Internet ecosystem. Cheers! David On Tue, Jan 7, 2020 at 8:34 PM Seun Ojedeji <seun.ojedeji@gmail.com> wrote:
