However, I do have a problem in the first part of that sentence.  There might be reasons to request a liaison be recalled, but I’m not really happy that this is a case in point.  I suggest three possible formulations in a comment on p.5, the simplest of which is to change should to could.  But given that this does not make a formal recommendation, that whole sentence could be deleted without loss of authority for the chair of the CSC.

Ooops, sorry, I had not realised that you were all waiting for me.

I have read the final doc and (with one exception) agree that it is ready to go.  I have used Philippe’s text and formatted the table to make it look like a single table, not two that have “happened to come together.”

Thanks for this. This looks very good to me.

My comments are the following:

• The induction program makes a lot of sense to me and a good complement to the skill set – hopefully the outgoing CSC members would be involved in this, but I suppose it’s a matter of good will on their part, it doesn’t necessarily have to be captured.

• Regarding the potential action for the appointing organization when liaisons don’t attend calls, I’m not sure we need to keep the sentence highlighted by Donna.

In addition the RT recommends that appointing organisations consider what they expect from their appointee, both in terms of being active on the CSC and reporting, and use the means provided in the charter to ensure all relevant interests are served[PhF1] .

• As edits and as noted by Debbie, the original text would seem to reflect an inclination for RT, so I aligned the introduction for this; if people prefer ERT, we’ll just do a search/replace all. Also noted a few problems with the fonts, and tried to fix that in the body of the document, if that helps.

Sorry for the delay—these things always take longer than you hope.

I felt that the report was overly long, so I’m suggesting that we delete a lot of the background stuff related to the CSC Charter Review. We note that this was a reference document for our work and that it formed a baseline, so I don’t think we need to go too much into chapter and verse on that, but I appreciate that others may have different opinions.

I’ve added one more recommendation: that an induction program be developed for new members and liaisons.

CSC appointees must attend a minimum  of nine meetings in a one – year period, and must not be  absent for more than two consecutive meetings. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the Chair of the CSC requesting a replacement from the respective organisation.

Publish Initial reprot for public comment:  14 January

Closure public comment:  24 February

Prep Final Report + staff summary week 25-1 March

Submit final report: 4 March

 I read this as “the appointing organization should use the prospect of the liaison being replaced as a means to make sure he/she engages accordingly” Maybe that’s a bit blunt, and the sentence could be removed.
