Friendly reminder: Draft Final Report
Dear all, If you have any comment on the draft final report, please do not hesitate to share this with staff directly or with the full group. As said it would be most helpful if we would receive your comments by 1 June at the latest, to be able to circulate an updated version by 2 June, in time for the next call, Thank you and kind regards, Bart From: Bart Boswinkel <bart.boswinkel@icann.org> Date: Tuesday 23 May 2017 at 22:52 To: "ctn-crosscom@icann.org" <ctn-crosscom@icann.org> Subject: Draft Final Report Dear all, Following our earlier emails, staff has prepared a draft Final Report. Following today’s call the proposed way forward is that the CWG will now look at the updates and provide feed-back and comments before the next call, which is scheduled for 6 June 2017, 05.00 UTC. Please share your comments direct on list or with staff by Thursday 1 June 2017. This will allow staff to consolidate comments received and share it with you well before the meeting. As said on today’s call you will see that the suggested way forward is: 1. Leave the recommendations “as is”. The sense of the CWG that a harmonized framework is not feasible is supported and hence the recommendations that the CWG should close, but work continue as well. The feed-back received on recommendation C - how to structure future efforts- remains unresolved. Diverse views were submitted, ranging from a GNSO PDP to a ccNSO PDP and everything in between. 2. The comments that deal with the conclusions pertaining to the use of 2-letters, 3-letters codes and full name of countries and territories as TLD are also diverse. With respect to these comments staff suggests that these views and opinions included in a summarized version in the report, as an annex. Goal is that the next group, however structured is properly informed about the different views of the community. Kind regards, Bart

Thanks for this reminder, there was a small point I wanted to report earlier but Due to my travels lately I forgot. I only scanned the report but noticed something odd on page 9 in the text about the ISO procedure, second. This now says: > The ISO body responsible for the standard 3166 is the Technical > Committee 46, systems etc. (ISO/TC 46/WG2). Minor changes to the > standard and updates to the code tables in the standard are the > responsibility of a dedicated Maintenance Agency (ISO3166/MA). Especially the bit about "systems etc." doesn't make sense and I can only assume that a botched cut-and-paste action caused this. I propsed to change this into: The ISO body responsible for the standard 3166 is the Working group 2 "Coding of country names and related entities" of the Technical Committee 46 "Information and documentation" (ISO/TC 46/WG2). Minor changes to the standard and updates to the code tables in the standard are the responsibility of a dedicated Maintenance Agency (ISO 3166/MA). Something like that. Hope that this helps, jaap
