Dear Cyrillic Generation Panel,

 

The Second-Level Reference Label Generation Rules (Reference LGRs) for Seven additional scripts (Armenian, Cyrillic, Greek, Latin, Japanese, Korean, and Myanmar) and other updated Reference LGRs are being released for Public Comment at https://www.icann.org/en/public-comment/proceeding/additional-script-based-reference-label-generation-rules-and-related-updates-19-01-2023.

 

Reference LGRs help improve the transparency and consistency of the Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) table review process and facilitate the registry operations of new gTLDs which offer IDN registration in these languages and scripts. Input from relevant language and script user community is very important to finalize these Reference LGRs.

 

We’d like to draw you attention to review these Reference LGRs, especially the ones listed in the table below.

There are no variants defined within the Cyrillic script. However, integration with the Latin and Greek LGR does introduce some in-script variants due to cross-script variant transitivity.

In particular, the Cyrillic LGR inherits the following in-script variants as result of integration:

  • Blocked: U+0456 (і) — U+0457 (ї).
  • Blocked: U+0443 (у) — U+04AF (ү).
