Links to the IGO-Red Cross discussion group regarding the proposed facilitated GAC-GNSO dialogue
For info – Mary Wong sent the note below to the GNSO Council today. Regards, Bruce Tonkin From: council-bounces@gnso.icann.org [mailto:council-bounces@gnso.icann.org] On Behalf Of Mary Wong Sent: Friday, 20 January 2017 10:08 AM To: council@gnso.icann.org Subject: [council] Links to the IGO-Red Cross discussion group regarding the proposed facilitated GAC-GNSO dialogue Dear Councilors, As requested, here are the links to the wiki pages concerning the proposed facilitated dialogue between the GAC and the GNSO, the objective of which is to try to resolve the outstanding differences between GAC advice and GNSO policy recommendations on protections for certain identifiers of the Red Cross and for IGO acronyms. As a quick reminder, these differences concern the following names and acronyms (which at the moment are withheld from registration under the 2012 New gTLD Program on an interim basis, pending resolution of the issues): · The names of 189 Red Cross National Societies · The name International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the related acronyms IFRC and FICR · The name International Committee of the Red Cross, and the related acronyms ICRC and CICR · Acronyms of the IGOs appearing on the GAC list sent to ICANN in March 2013 (as updated from time to time) The Wiki Links: · Wiki page created for the IGO-Red Cross Discussion Group: https://community.icann.org/x/eoPRAw · Discussion Group mailing list archive: http://mm.icann.org/pipermail/discussion-igo-rc/ · Link to the three drafts circulated by Bruce so far: https://community.icann.org/x/hIPRAw Finally, as there has been quite a lot of previous discussion and briefing materials on this topic, staff will be happy to prepare a short status update for the Council as well as compile a list of relevant documents for your reference, if you wish. Thanks and cheers Mary
Hi Bruce Thank you for this. Just a quick question regarding the use of (and access to) the wiki space that Mary sent to the GNSO Council: who has the right to access this wiki space? - the members of the facilitation group? - the GNSO (Council)? - the GAC? Thank you for clarifying this so that I know who can/should be using this space… Best regards Thomas Von: discussion-igo-rc-bounces@icann.org [mailto:discussion-igo-rc-bounces@icann.org] Im Auftrag von Bruce Tonkin Gesendet: Samstag, 21. Hello Thomas, >> who has the right to access this wiki space? - the members of the facilitation group? - the GNSO (Council)? - the GAC? My understanding is that right now the Wiki is basically a repository for staff to post the various drafts of briefing documents for Copenhagen. It is intended for the public to be able to read the documents and see a copy of the archived mailing list of this discussion group. I believe that the public can also post comments on the wiki if they wish. The aim of the wiki is to meet the transparency objectives of this group. The main method for commenting on the briefing documents should be via this mailing list – and you are welcome to request other GAC members be added to this list if you wish. If there is any document that you wish posted to the wiki , just ask Mary Wong via this mailing list and it can be posted. Regards, Bruce Tonkin
