I know your community is deeply impacted by the Alan Barrett’s passing, noting the strong relationships he held across the numbering community. I pass along ICANN’s sympathies to you and your colleagues.
Last week, ICANN published a Secretary’s
Notice of the vacancy in ICANN Board Seat 9. Please let us know how ICANN can support the ASO AC when it is prepared to proceed with its selection process.
A few items we note for the ASO AC’s consideration when filling the vacancy:

The current term for Seat 9 expires at the end of ICANN’s AGM in 2027.

Appointment to fill a vacancy does not count as service of that term for the purpose of the three consecutive-term limit under Article 7, Section 7.8(e).

Each Supporting Organization shall ensure that no two directors nominated by it are citizens from the same country or of countries located in the same Geographic Region. As Christian Kaufmann, who holds Seat 10, is from Europe, the nominee to fill Seat 9 must
come from a different Geographic Region.
