In Dutch we say: under pressure everything can become liquid :-)

I think Zoom have responded quickly and transparently.

People are just lazy and don't want the minimal friction that comes from using a unique password and using the waiting room. Those people needed an upgrade a long time ago ...

Zoom's done more about security in the past 5 days that they have in years of operation.
Kindest regards,

Hi Everyone,

Michele, thanks for sharing the link to Ash's blog https://www.icann.org/news/blog/addressing-recent-zoom-news.

We have confidence in Zoom.  As the blog mentions, we expect other flaws will be found over the coming weeks, but MTS team (meetings technical team) is experienced using many online platforms and backed to a strong security team.  As I mentioned in may earlier email, ICANN had already implemented many of the measures to ensure improved privacy and security on our calls before much of the advice was published.  We have implemented and patches and updates and learnt from other's experiences.

We hope not to experience any problems, but of course cannot make promises that some won't happen.  But for now we have confidence in the Zoom platform and how we have implemented it. For now Zoom meets ICANN's and the community's needs better than any other platform.

Best,

Adam

ICANN is using Zoom for their online meetings.

They have no plans to move to another solution and to be honest I totally agree with their position.

Every single bit of software out there has issues of some kind. Most of the really big issues with Zoom have been addressed and many of the other ones are down to settings an account or meeting.

If you want to use ICANN’s meeting facilities or join online events you have to use the solution they are using. You cannot expect them to keep switching from one solution to another constantly.

Regards

Michele

Dear colleagues,
hope my email finds you well.

I' m backing the statements of Hudobnik regarding the privacy risks over Zoom app,
therefore I propose and recommend by the time-being using the bluejeans facilities:

Would it be possible to use this app for the upcoming meeting?

Thank you.

Kind Regards,

Natalia RUSU

Dear Adam, thank you so much for the clarification but there are still a lot of corners regarding zoom. Despite the fact of the update and changes of their privacy policy.
Here just two examples:

Take care and have a nice day!
Best,
Matthias

Hi Annette, All;

ICANN's IT staff are confident in using Zoom.  We have implemented passwords for all meetings, and addressed the concerns you'll see in the FBI review of Zoom's privacy and security issues.  A lot of these concerns could be addressed through Zoom settings, ICANN staff we aware of these and had already changed the defaults for our meetings. We are also working direct with Zoom and feel confident they are doing a good job.  And long may this continue!

Keep a look out for updates for the applications you use and keep things updated.

Warm regards,

Adam

Dear All,
This is an important discussion. But that it takes place on “zoom” is a said proof of a lack of a well functioning user centered IT-Infrastructure.
Any alternatives we can use in the future?

Zoom proofed to be very problematic:
