Get Ready for ICANN77 Prep Week!

ICANN77 Prep Week is happening next week from Tuesday, 30 May to Thursday, 1 June 2023.

 

Prep Week consists of 12 sessions to prepare the ICANN community for the ICANN77 Policy Forum [r20.rs6.net], which is taking place 12-15 June 2023 in Washington, D.C.

 

Prep Week sessions will be conducted in English, and remote simultaneous interpretation will be provided in Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish. To attend any of the sessions, please register for ICANN77 on the meeting website [r20.rs6.net].

New ICANN Washington, D.C. Engagement Center Now Open

Interim President and Chief Executive Officer Sally Costerton, ICANN Board Chair Tripti Sinha, and Senior Vice President, Policy Development Support and Washington, D.C., Engagement Center Managing Director David Olive participated in a [r20.rs6.net]hybrid ribbon cutting ceremony [r20.rs6.net] to mark the opening of the new office in the U.S. capital. Local ICANN Board members and ICANN organization executives also attended the event.

 

Having an office in Washington, D.C. is a priority for ICANN. Washington, D.C. is the seat of government in the United States and the headquarters of several international organizations.

Reminder: ICANN77 Registration Deadlines

ICANN77 will take place 12–15 June both virtually and in-person. In-person registration closes on 7 June, while virtual registration closes on 15 June.

 

 

 

Last Chance to Apply for Internet Access Reimbursement!

The deadline to apply for ICANN’s Pandemic Internet Access Reimbursement Program [r20.rs6.net] for ICANN77 is Monday, 5 June, at 23:59 UTC.

 

The goal of this program is to facilitate virtual participation in ICANN Public Meetings. Since ICANN77 is a hybrid meeting, only those who are registered to attend virtually are eligible for the program; in-person participants at ICANN77 are not eligible to apply.

ICANN Seeks 2024 NomCom Chair and Chair-Elect

ICANN is seeking Expressions of Interest for the Chair and Chair-Elect of the 2024 Nominating Committee (NomCom).

 

Expressions of Interest, which will be maintained

as confidential, should be sent to NomComChair2024@icann.org no later

than 12 June 2023.

 

The Chair is responsible for organizing the NomCom in its activities to select certain ICANN Board members and leaders of ICANN's Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees. The Chair-Elect serves alongside the Chair, gaining skills and knowledge to be applied in the Chair-Elect's anticipated succession to the role of the Chair.

PREP WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

 

Universal Acceptance Community Update

The newly elected [r20.rs6.net] Universal Acceptance Steering Group (UASG) leadership team will host this Prep Week session to provide an overview of the group’s priorities and upcoming work.

 

The session will give updates from the multiple working groups, local Initiatives, and UA Ambassadors who are working to make UA a reality. The session will also provide a comprehensive overview of the first-ever UA Day, which saw over 50 events held around the world aimed at raising UA awareness in an effort to build a more inclusive and multilingual Internet.

New gTLD Program Next Round Update

This session is an Update on the Implementation Status of the new gTLDs Program, Next Round Implementation status, following the Board approval of the Final Report on the New gTLD Subsequent Procedures (SubPro) in Cancún (ICANN76).

 

The Program Implementation team will update the community on overall progress on the Implementation Phase and a chance for an interactive engagement with the community.
