Dear All,

On behalf of Maureen Hilyard, Chair of the ALAC, we would like to announce that the 2022 call for nominations is now open for positions to be filled as ALAC Members, RALO Leaders and ALAC Delegates to the NomCom.

Positions Open:

Please refer to the 2022 ALAC and RALO Elections, Selections and Appointments Workspace for a comprehensive list of all available positions and whether current holders of the positions are eligible for re-selection.

Terms:

• ALAC: Terms for the ALAC will run from the end of the 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM) to the end of the 2024 AGM.
• RALO Leadership: Terms for the RALO Leadership will be as noted on the individual RALO election pages. All terms will start at the end of the 2022 AGM.
• ALAC Delegates to the NomCom: Voting members of the NomCom are appointed for a one year term, starting at the close of the 2022 AGM and ending at the close of the 2023 AGM and may be re-appointed for a further term of one year subject to the requirement under the ICANN Bylaws. Each RALO may make one or more recommendations for the consideration of the ALAC. The appointment if NomCom delegates is carried out by the ALAC.The criteria for NomCom Delegates are shown at the end of this message.

Selection Schedule for ALAC Members, RALO Leadership, and ALAC Delegates to the NomCom:

• 18 April 2022 -  Announcement of call for nominations and Nominee's Statement. (Except for NARALO that requires a call for nominations 30 days before the start of the elections.)
• 18 April 2022 - 29 April 2022 - Nomination period (nominations accepted for 10 working days).
• 6 May 2022  - Deadline for nomination acceptances
• 9 May 2022 - 12 May 2022 - Calls with the candidates if desired by the RALOs. 
• 13 May - 20 May 2022 - Elections (If required, elections will begin no later than one week after the deadline for nomination acceptances and end no later than two weeks after that deadline).
• 2022 AGM [ICANN75] - Newly elected ALAC Members and RALOs Leaders shall be seated at the end of the 2022 AGM following the close of the Board Meeting on 22 September 2022.

Process for Nominations:
All nominees are expected to submit a brief statement explaining why they believe they are a suitable candidate to At-Large staff.  All nominees must also complete or update their Statement of Interest (see: At-Large New SOIs Workspace).

Nominations, including self-nominations, must be made directly to their RALO’s mailing list and by sending a note to At-Large staff.

Criteria for NomCom Delegates:
The NomCom is responsible for selecting members of the ICANN Board, ALAC, ccNSO and GNSO. This is a very important function and all candidates should meet important criteria.

• Familiarity with the ICANN groups to which the NomCom appoints (Board, ALAC, GNSO, ccNSO).
• Ability to judge people (such as when interviewing and hiring).
• Comfortable and preferably fluent with English (listening, reading, speaking).
• Good on-line skills such as on Google & Social media.
• Time Commitment - Must be willing to devote substantial time under tight deadlines (March-June). May involve travel to up to 4 meetings.
• Ability work in a group environment, standing up for what you believe in a discussion with other "strong" people, but at the same time, must be a good listener and be willing to change your mind if someone else has a good argument. Diplomacy is important.

Positions ouvertes :

Durée des mandats:

• Membres de l’ALAC : Les mandats pour les membres de l’ALAC commencent à la fin de l’AGA 2022 et se poursuivront jusqu’à la fin de l’AGA 2024.
• Dirigeants des RALO : Les mandats des dirigeants des RALO seront indiqués sur les différentes pages d'élection des RALO. Tous les mandats commencent à la fin de l'AGA 2022.
• Délégués de l’ALAC au NomCom: Les membres votants du NomCom sont nommés pour un mandat d’un an, à partir de l’AGA 2022 et se terminant à la fin de l’AGA de 2023 et peuvent être réélus pour un nouveau mandat d'un an sous réserve des exigences en vertu des statuts de l'ICANN.  Chaque RALO peut faire une ou plusieurs recommandations à l’attention de l’ALAC. Les critères pour les délégués NomCom sont indiqués à la fin de ce message.

Calendrier de la  sélection pour les dirigeants des RALO, les Membres de l'ALAC et les délégués de l’ALAC au NomCom:

• 18 avril 2022 - Annonce de l’appel à candidatures et la déclaration du candidat
• 18 avril au 29 avril 2022 - Période de nomination
• 6 mai 2022  - Date limite pour les acceptations de candidatures
• 9 mai au 12 mai 2022 – Appels avec les candidats si les RALO le désirent.
• 13 mai au 20 mai 2022 - Élections - (si nécessaires, les élections commenceront au plus tard une semaine après la date limite d’acceptation des candidatures et se termineront au plus tard deux semaines après ce délais).
• 2022 AGA [ICANN 75] - Les représentants nouvellement élus prendront place à la fin de l’assemblée générale 2022, suite à la clôture de la réunion du Conseil des Membres du Board le 22 septembre 2022.

Processus de Nominations:

Tous les candidats doivent soumettre une déclaration brève au personnel At-Large (staff@atlarge.icann.org) qui explique pourquoi ils pensent être un candidat approprié. Tous les candidats doivent également remplir ou mettre à jour leur déclaration d’intérêt (voir: At-Large New SOIs Workspace)

Les nominations, y compris les auto-nominations, doivent être faites directement sur la liste de diffusion de leur RALO et en envoyant une note au personnel At-Large.

Critères pour les délégués du NomCom:

Le NomCom est responsable de la sélection des membres du Conseil d’Administration de l’ICANN, de l’ALAC, du ccNSO et du GNSO. C’est une fonction très importante et tous les candidats doivent répondre à des critères importants.

• Familiarité avec les groups de l’ICANN nommés par le NomCom (Conseil d’Administration, ALAC, GNSO, ccNSO).
• Capacité à juger les gens (comme lors de l’entrevue et de l’embauche).
• A l’aise et de préférence courant en Anglais (écoute, lecture et parler).
• Bonnes compétences en ligne telles que sur Google et les médias sociaux.
• Engagement au niveau du temps. Doit être disposé à consacrer beaucoup de temps dans des délais serrés (mars à juin). Peut impliquer de voyager jusqu’à 4 réunions.
• Capacité de travailler dans un environnement de groupe, défendre ce que vous croyez dans une discussion avec d’autres personnes “fortes” mais en même temps, doit être un bon auditeur et être prêt à changer d’avis si quelqu’un d’autre à un bon argument. La diplomatie est importante.
