Dear
all
also from my side welcome back to the business.
I fully support Robertos and Wolfs approach and also the two
additional points raised by Anette. We should also now draft a work plan
2008 which should include
a. events (also national and sub-regional
meerings like related workshops, conferences, meetings etc.)
b. thematic
papers on ICANN issues (both themes mentioned by ICANN could be the subject
of such an "EURALO Thematic Paper Series"
Furthermore, the
ICANN Studienkreis will have its 9th meeting in Helsinki, September 4 - 5,
2009. Like in Warsaw (and Prague) we start on Thursday afternoon. So
Thursday, September 4, 2008 morning could be used for another EURALO
outreach meeting, this time in the Nother part of Europe, the Baltics and
Russia.
Best regards
wolfgang

dear wolf, dear all,
i would like to add
two issues:
1. new geo/city tlds: how to make it a win-win situation for
governments and
users
2. how to deal with the "morality"-issue
presented in the last gnso-workshop
at the last icann meeting.
i
am ready for the tel conf this thursday 16:00 utc.
but i doubt that i
will make it to geneva in february, but we will see.

Hi everyone,
I am very much in favor of
this. One of the issues I would like to see
ALAC discuss is registrant
representation in DNS regulation. Should
domain name registrants perhaps
have some beneficiary rights when it
comes to registry and registrar
contracts or policies?

Hi Wolf,
Thanks for this useful
reboot, I look forward to discussing these ideas and
the others regarding
policy work on the conference call. One organizational
point in the
meanwhile: You raise the idea of a board/summit OC meeting in
Geneva on
Monday 25 Feb. before the IGF. I was toying with the idea of
doing
a different sort of IG-related workshop at the Graduate Institute on
that
day, but could put that idea aside for now if there is sufficient
critical mass to do a board/OC meeting instead. Barring an unusual
circumstance in which all the conference rooms are busy that day, I
should
be able to host such a meeting with the requisite libations etc.
But before
I look into the logistics and budget it would be helpful
to know whether
enough of us would be interested and able to attend.
If people could let me
know whether they'd be available that'd be
helpful.
Thanks,
Bill
