Dear All,

On behalf of Judith Hellerstein, At-Large Captioning Pilot Project group lead and NARALO’s Secretary, we are pleased to announce that the FY 16 At-Large Captioning Pilot Project will start in January 2016.

The captioning will be provided by “Caption First Incorporated”.

As agreed to by the At-Large Captioning Pilot Project group, the implementation of this project will be structured as follows:

• Three calls to include captioning each month for a total of 9 teleconferences, not exceeding 60 minutes per call (with the exception of the ALAC Monthly Meeting)
• The calls shall be held between January – April 2016.
• During the first pilot phase of this captioning project the language used will be English.
• In order to select the calls the captioning team has developed a set of criteria to evaluate and rate the requests. The request for captioning must meet at least one of these criteria to be put on the list.

Criteria for Captioning:

1) Are there persons with disabilities or with limited bandwidth participating?

2) Are there webinars of general interest to the ICANN community that would increase the engagement of non-native English speakers?

3) Are the meetings or discussions about accessible tools or software?

If you would like to have a teleconference captioned during this pilot phase please submit your request to At-Large Staff by January 15^th.

• The At-Large Captioning Pilot Project group, in collaboration with At-Large Staff, will select the calls that will have captioning based on the criteria noted above.  

• A short poll will be made at the end of each call where captioning is used to ask for feedback on the captioning program during that call.
