NEW: ICANN Board Leaves FY21-25 Strategic Plan Unchanged

 

Designed to shape ICANN's priorities, the Five-Year Strategic Plan establishes a vision and a set of objectives and goals in service of ICANN's mission. Every year, new trends or shifts in existing trends have the potential to impact our plans. Acting on a recommendation from the ICANN Board's Strategic Planning Committee, the Board has resolved to keep the Strategic Plan for fiscal years (FY) 2021–2025 in force and unchanged at this time. The strategic objectives and goals from the Strategic Plan remain, while activities and projects will be updated in the Draft FY25 Operating Plans. NEW: ICANN Community Excellence Award Selection Panel

 

ICANN Supporting Organization and Advisory Committee Leaderships are invited to appoint up to two individuals from their communities to comprise the 2024 ICANN Community Excellence Award Selection Panel by Monday, 11 December 2023.

 

2024 ICANN Community Excellence Award will be presented at ICANN79 in San Juan. A nomination period will be open from 13 November 2023 through 8 January 2024. ICANN is convening a community selection panel that will review the nominations and select the award recipient(s). 

 

It would be ideal for panelists to serve a maximum of two consecutive terms on the selection panel to ensure diversity and variety of input and equal opportunity among community members to take part in this recognition effort.

NEW: Formation of a Continuous Improvement Program Community Coordination Group (CIP-CCG)

 

ICANN org reached out to SO/AC Chairs and sent them a full letter and a draft CIP-CCG terms of reference to propose the formation of a CIP-CCG to convene in December 2023. The goal is to develop a framework for implementation of ATRT3 Recommendation 3.6. The feedback from SO/AC Chairs is expected by 30 November. 

 

 

NEW: Retirement of Non-Policy Recommendations

 

ICANN org shared a document named "Draft Process to Retire Non-Policy Recommendations" with SO/AC Chairs and expects their feedback by 30 November. The process pertains exclusively to non-policy recommendations that emerge from Reviews and Cross-Community Working Groups, aligning with the objective of the implementation of ATRT3 Recommendation 5.

 

 

NEW: Streamlining Resource Requests from the ICANN Community

 

ICANN org will end the ABR process beginning with the FY2025 OP&B process. The annual OP&B process is better understood, and several ICANN community groups already align their operations and planning work to it. Streamlining resource requests from the ICANN community into a single process is expected to result in more efficiencies.

From 9 October – 15 November 2023, ICANN has issued a call for nominations for the 2024 Leadership Program, scheduled for 29 February –1 March in San Juan, Puerto Rico, just prior to the ICANN79 Public Meeting.

***NextGen Mentor Program Nominations Deadline Extended to December 1st. Please submit nominations ASAP. Please note this is a funded traveler position and I must have nominations submitted on time for ICANN79. Thank you.***

 

NextGen@ICANN Mentor Program Nominations. The NextGen@ICANN Program seeks nominations for the 2024 Mentor Program. This appointment will serve for ICANN79, ICANN80, and ICANN81. Nominations must be submitted no later than Friday, 1 December 2023. The community-nominated mentor will be responsible for overseeing the mentor process. Communities may choose to appoint program alumni and are encouraged to appoint active community members who have an interest in mentoring students. Guidelines for the program can be found at the link below. Interested community groups should select their respective volunteers and notify Deborah Escalera, deborah.escalera@icann.org [r20.rs6.net].
