This
year marks the 20
year-review of the UN’s
World Summit on the
Information Society (WSIS),
which aimed to achieve a
common vision and commitment
to build a "people-centered,
inclusive, and
development-oriented
Information Society". As
well as setting a vision for
digital development through
its Action Lines, the WSIS
process formalised the
framework for Internet
governance and led to the
creation of the Internet
Governance Forum (IGF).
The
WSIS+20 Review is a key
moment to take stock of what
the WSIS process has
delivered over the last 20
years, where there is
further to go, and how the
process might evolve in the
future.
The
UK IGF is therefore
convening an online
session - “Perspectives
on WSIS+20” -
this Wednesday 30 April from
09:30-11:30 (BST/UTC). This
will provide a chance to
hear from various speakers
including:

Commission on Science, Tech
for Development's report looking
at the implementation of WSIS

the Department for Science,
Innovation and Technology

Once
we have heard from our

floor to all participants to
share their perspectives and
priorities for the WSIS+20
process, and provide an
opportunity for Q&A with
our speakers.
