Dear all, as announced by the end of December, the next EURALO General Assembly (GA) 2013 will be convened on 19 June PM in Lisbon/Portugal, in line with the next EuroDIG. And as noted before, it will be a face-to-face meeting again where all members are invited and funded by ICANN. Due to the fact that we have a rather limited budget only for our F2F GA, we need to start with our preparations, particularly travel bookings, as soon as possible to allow cheap flight fares for all of you. The registration procedure for the Lisbon GA therefore has to be accomplished by the *end of January* or beginning of February latest! After your registration you will be contacted by ICANN Constituency Travel for direct booking arrangements and for cheapest flights whenever possible. Thanks for your confirmation and question, Christoph. I am pleased to add you to our list of confirmed GA participants. As we do not intend to conduct just a "regular" GA with usual formalities only, we will ask our members by end of February for agenda topics they want to have discussed in Lisbon. Our next F2F GA will be organised in two parts: 1. Board report, assessment of members and elections (prepared by leaderships and Board) and 2. Issues our members want to discuss (depending on proposals and feedbacks). The 2nd part can be on how to improve involvement of members in EURALO's regular activities (inreach) and / or any political issues or questions you want EURALO to focus and follow-up on reflecting concerns of members and Internet users. Brief: your ideas and suggestions for part of the GA agenda are welcome! BTW, as we are in Lisbon at the moment for the first EuroDIG open planning meeting, we had a chance to see the facilities for our next GA which are promising. Dear Wolf, Dear All, obviously some EURALO member organizations engage very little and of course one could imagine to attract more member organizations in order strengthen EURALO's voice. I therefore welcome the initiative on inreach, which - I believe - will encompass aspects also relevant for outreach. My message is simple. EURALO will be primarily attractive to organizations/individuals who can afford to spend a lot of time for this engagement if it continue to operate in the way it has been done in the past years. This is meant as observation not as criticism! This translates to: Increasing the involvement of the silent members will be dependent on being able to offer meaningful modes of participation which consume little time. Talking about options for "limited" participation is my suggestion for the agenda in Lisbon. as announced by the end of December, the next EURALO General Assembly (GA) 2013 will be convened on 19 June PM in Lisbon/Portugal, in line with the next EuroDIG. And as noted before, it will be a face-to-face meeting again where all members are invited and funded by ICANN.
Due to the fact that we have a rather limited budget only for our F2F GA, we need to start with our preparations, particularly travel bookings, as soon as possible to allow cheap flight fares for all of you. The registration procedure for the Lisbon GA therefore has to be accomplished by the *end of January* or beginning of February latest! After your registration you will be contacted by ICANN Constituency Travel for direct booking arrangements and for cheapest flights whenever possible.
As mentioned before, your GA invitation comprises travel, two hotel nights in Lisbon (19 and 20 June) plus Per diems for three days – covering your participation at EuroDIG 2013 as well. Those of you who intend to stay over for a cosy summer weekend in Lisbon can state this for the travel arrangements – extra nights in Lisbon are on your own expenses however.
What I need to know during the next two weeks is: *the name of the ALS representative coming to Lisbon *besides the closest airport to your respective residence.
Regular ALS representatives who may be prevented for any reason during those days already can nominate a replacement representing their ALS.
