I understand that this is a serious issue, in particular for civil society, but this is the current situation. A shame, because they did have a small travel pool 10 years ago. It funded myself, Glenn and some other At-Largers, administered directly by Meire Meloof of the Secretariat. I recall its processes being much more frugal than ICANN's -- my itinerary had three stops between Toronto and São Paulo and the hotel they allowed was some distance from the venue -- but I got there. I think it's very important to have at least some kind of funding pool for people that can't get sent by their companies, governments or universities. I hope they can find something for those who can really contribute on behalf of Internet consumers.
