EuroDIG News *Submit your ideas in the Call for Issues!* The Call for Issues for EuroDIG2022 is *open until December 31 *on eurodig.org <https://www.eurodig.org/>. With the UN Internet Governance Forum just over, there are many relevant ideas and open questions to be discussed. Each person or organisation can submit up to three topics relating to Internet governance from a European perspective. This is not a call for workshop proposals, rather, we want to find out what the key topics for next year should be. The more people contribute ideas, the more diverse the programme will become. Good morning Following the interest shown at IGF Italy to the session about use of the Internet by cultural and linguistic minorities - the panel included the communities speaking furlan (Friuli), sardo (Sardinia) and arbëreshë (Calabria) - I believe that we can try a similar session at the European level. I have also contacted UNESCO, who is very much interested, given also that next year marks the beginning of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages - 2022-2032. Are you part of, or in contact with, any local community that speaks a language that is not the official language of the country? If so, if there is any interest in raising issues related to local languages and cultures I suggest you submit a topic in the EuroDIG Call for Issues at the link indicated by Olivier. Hi Betty Happy to learn about the programme. I personally believe that the Creole will make a very good example. May I suggest that you submit a brief statement to the call for issues at https://www.eurodig.org/get-involved/planning-process/#tab-call-for-issues mentioning the national programme or any topic related to the use of creole on the internet. This would also be a great opportunity to present the local culture and languages in the French DOM-TOM. Yrjö, I am in contact with Maria Uden, of the Sámi community, she was a speaker last year for the session on DTN to present the application to serve the Sámi reindeer herders who, being nomadic, cannot use the normal Internet protocols but need the delay-tolerant bundle protocol. After EuroDIG 2021, we spoke about the indigenous language issue and she was interested. I will ask her to submit a proposal to the call for issues for the Sámi language. I have also contacted UNESCO, who is very much interested, given also that next year marks the beginning of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages - 2022-2032. Are you part of, or in contact with, any local community that speaks a language that is not the official language of the country? Dear Betty, I am not sure whether the question of funding was addressed to me, it should rather be answered by the EURALO Leadership or Staff. In any case, what I am talking about was not a complicated project, but just a submission to the EuroDIG Call for Issues - see https://www.eurodig.org/get-involved/planning-process/#tab-call-for-issues - to propose that the presence on the Internet of the Creole language be discussed at EuroDIG 2022. The follow-up, if the idea is accepted, will be the standard EuroDIG process, with a working group that will shape up the session. Let me also remind that the deadline for the submission of a proposal is this Friday, 31 December.
