This webinar is more about the « final » interim model discussed in San Juan and the different new elements such as the comment of IPC/BC on the accreditation model and the reply of Article 29 to ICANN consultation. Keywords: Game over, or Game on? Dear all, whilst the name of this Webinar might be quite unimpressive, the contents are going to be sizzling hot. Why? Because in order to get WHOIS to be GDPR compliant, and therefore in order for the Registrars and Registries that run WHOIS records to be GDPR compliant, ICANN has worked with its community to produce four preliminary interim models - 1a, 2a, 2b and 3. ICANN then asked its community to indicate preference for a model and a final interim model was discussed in San Juan. It is a layered model that requires accreditation to reach the different layers. The ALAC looked at this, and commented on: https://community.icann.org/x/Ay68B --- At-Large Workspace: Data Protection/Privacy Issues: ICANN-proposed Interim Model. So far so good. The proposal was sent by ICANN to the Article 29 Working Party immediately after the end of the ICANN meeting in San Juan. Was ICANN going to get the all clear? Surely, the response came pretty quickly: on April 11th, Andrea Jelinek, Chairperson of the Article 29 Working Party sent this letter to ICANN CEO Göran Marby: https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/correspondence/jelinek-to-marby-11apr1... In brief, the letter said: we need more information and ICANN needs to come up with a more detailed plan. But in order to make things even more spicy, the US Government has gone on record, at ICANN's opening ceremony, through the voice of its new Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information and Administrator, National Telecommunications and Information Administration, David J. Il y a quelques mois, nous avons organisé un webinaire sur la conformité des données des déclarants Whois avec le GDPR Européen. Il s'agissait essentiellement d'expliquer le GDPR et ses implications sur les acteurs d 'internet consultant les données des déclarants. À la fin, nous avons dit quelques mots sur les 4 modèles intérimaires provisoires proposés par l'ICANN org (1, 2a, 2b, 3).
Ce webinaire est plus sur le modèle intérimaire «final» discuté à San Juan et les différents nouveaux éléments tels que commentaire de l'IPC / BC sur le modèle d'accréditation et la réponse de l'article 29 à la consultation de l ' ICANN. Ceci est pour donner à nos membres de la communauté des éléments bien informés pour pouvoir commenter correctément sur les solutions proposées.

Because in order to get WHOIS to be GDPR compliant, and therefore in order for the Registrars and Registries that run WHOIS records to be GDPR compliant, ICANN has worked with its community to produce four preliminary interim models - 1a, 2a, 2b and 3. Surely, the response came pretty quickly: on April 11th, Andrea Jelinek, Chairperson of the Article 29 Working Party sent this letter to ICANN CEO Göran Marby: https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/correspondence/jelinek-to-marby-11apr1...
In brief, the letter said: we need more information and ICANN needs to come up with a more detailed plan. Some observers have said that this is likely signing a death warrant for the public WHOIS service ( http://www.circleid.com/posts/20180413_public_whois_article_29_gives_icann_t... ). But in order to make things even more spicy, the US Government has gone on record, at ICANN's opening ceremony, through the voice of its new Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information and Administrator, National Telecommunications and Information Administration, David J. Redl ( https://www.ntia.doc.gov/page/david-j-redl ) that the US government wants WHOIS to stay.
So I guess you can see the difference between these two messages.
Which is the reason why I would recommend that you find the time to attend this Webinar, as the WHOIS debate, having started so many years ago, might turn out to eat up audiences from Game of Thrones or House of Cards. (or maybe not)
