WG: [IRP] Introducing "The Netizen Report"
FYI -- hope to welcome many of you at our monthly call this evening. Best, Wolf _________ Rebecca MacKinnon wrote Sun, 18 Sep 2011 16:52:
Dear colleagues and friends,
On Thursday I launched a new section on the Global Voices Advocacy website called “The Netizen Report”: An overview of recent global developments related to the power dynamics between citizens, companies and governments on the Internet. I hope that these regular (probably quasi-weekly) reports can provide netizens around the world with useful information about who is seeking to influence and shape the digital platforms and networks we increasingly depend upon, and how. Armed with information, we are in a better position to defend our rights, and to make sure the Internet evolves in a manner that is compatible with free expression and dissent.
You can read the inaugural post here: http://advocacy.globalvoicesonline.org/2011/09/16/netizenreport-inaugural/
The format and content of the report will evolve over the coming months based on reader feedback and author experimentation. Your comments and criticisms are welcome. Within the coming week or so I hope to set up an email subscription system for these posts. Meanwhile those familiar with RSS feeds can subscribe immediately via this page: http://advocacy.globalvoicesonline.org/categories/special/netizen-report/
Cheers, Rebecca

Dear Wolf, Dear Friends and Colleagues: As previously indicated, on this occasion I will not be able to join this evening's conference call. My apologies. I would however be grateful if one of you could - under the ICANN Strategy point - ask Kurt Pritz to explain and justify the ICANN position on vertical integration, and how such a position was reached by the staff and board. It is very embarrassing to support the multistakeholder model when considered and informed advice, bottom up, is blatantly ignored by ICANN. Dear All, Carole Cornell, Senior Director, Project Management Office, will be presenting the Strategic Plan to the EURALO this evening with Kurt participation on the phone bridge (whilst travelling). Dear Christopher, we raised your point and question at our call tonight and we will take some more time to read your statement in detail. We were assured that we still can bring this up until the next ICANN meeting October in Dakar. Thanks for your input! Kind regards, Wolf Christopher Wilkinson wrote Tue, 20 Sep 2011 18:21:
