/Topic and Background/
Preparations for the high-level review conference of the UN World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS+20) are entering their final stretch. The conference, set to adopt its concluding document in New York on 17 December 2025, has been steadily advancing through its drafting phases. After releasing an Elements Paper on 7 July and a Zero Draft on 30 August, the WSIS+20 co-facilitators, Ambassador Ekitela Lokaale of Kenya and Ambassador Suela Janina of Albania, unveiled the first revised draft (Rev.1) on 8 November 2025.
The updated draft spans 16 chapters and 125 paragraphs, outlining the overarching priorities that will shape global discussions on the information society for the decade ahead, leading up to WSIS+30 in 2035.
As part of this process, Wolfgang Kleinwächter, a member of the Informal Multistakeholder Sounding Board <https://publicadministration.desa.un.org/wsis20/imsb>, will contribute insights during an open exchange at the EuroDIG Extra <https://www.eurodig.org/get-involved/eurodig-extra/#tab-eurodig-extra-vol-9> with interested stakeholders on the conference process and its anticipated outcomes.
We look forward to meeting you soon!
Kind regards
the EuroDIG secretariat
